Long-line leash for recall training — any recommendations for 50+ lb dogs?

Starting recall training with my 55-lb rescue mix (Mango, 3 years old) and every trainer resource I've read says to use a 20-30 ft long line first. Problem is every long line I look at seems designed for small dogs — thin biothane or nylon that I can see snapping if he hits the end at speed.
What weight rating should I be looking for? Any specific products that have held up for large, strong dogs? I don't want him pulling me over or breaking the line when he lunges at a squirrel.

For a 55-lb dog you want a minimum 3/4-inch width biothane long line rated to at least 500 lbs breaking strength — don't use the thin 3/8-inch training lines. Biothane is the material you want: waterproof, easy to clean, doesn't tangle like nylon. Brand-wise, look at Mendota Products or get a custom biothane line from a small maker on Etsy (search 'biothane long line large dog'). The 30 ft length is the sweet spot — enough range for real recall work without being unmanageable. Get a swivel clip, not a standard bolt snap.

Wear gloves while you're getting the hang of the long line. Ask me how I learned that. A rope burn from a 60-lb dog hitting the end of a 30-ft line at full sprint is very unpleasant.
